It's been a fairly hard year for me. I started my own business last year and teamed up late in the year with two partners. Things have been growing very slowly, but every alternate month is a 'dead' month. It is getting difficult to get by financially.
I am pretty sure things will work out. We have now come together with two other small companies and between us we cover the entire range of what is required for small businesses to function well. Voice, data and office automation. We have put together an all-in-one package. Everything installed and configured ready to work. I have an idea it will work out fairly nicely. Especially since it is priced attractively.
We also have several large tenders in the pipeline, but paperwork and bureaucratic red tape really slows things down. Especially in government. It has really put a damper on things and it is getting difficult to stay upbeat.
I have spent quite a few days, here and there, very, very out of sorts and depressed. Luckily I usually come out of it pretty quickly and then attack work with renewed vigor which is a good thing.
I have also decided I need a housemate. I need company and the financial assistance would be very, very useful. i have someone in mind, but since she is also working for a struggling company she does not want to commit and then not be able to pay the rent. It sucks a bit because she is an amazing girl. Beautiful, good sense of humour, similar interests and I can *talk* to her about stuff. It's lovely. Unfortunately, at the moment it is a no go...It sucks.
I used to have a housemate that was very similar. She was practically the perfect woman in every respect, except that I was not her type. *sigh* She moved out when she bought her own house (opposite the one we were renting)
One of the reasons I miss having a housemate is the company. The other reason is that I hate watching new movies and TV series by myself. I am usually busy with something, so concentrating on new movies is a pain because I get distracted. So I tend to repeat all the old ones where I don't have to pay too much attention.
I have forced myself over the last weekend and this week to watch 3 movies (so far) that I have not seen before. The Sorceror's Apprentice, Conan the Barbarian (new one) and Captain America. I will post mini reviews of each soon...

New Beginnings...
I've decided to start a new chapter in my life and as such I started a new twitter feed and a new blog. (I have in the past had both, but those fell by the wayside as life took over technology (not necessarily a good thing for a computer geek)
So, this weekend, I decided to start the new chapter with a 'Spring Clean™'. After two days I am still busy, but at least the house looks fairly respectable. Just a a few loose bits to tidy away (or throw out) and the house will once again be ready to accept polite company.
The phrase, 'The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions' is very apt, except in this case it is more like, "The path to an inevitably messy house is paved with a good Spring Clean™" ie. It doesn't last. I think that is mostly due to a lack of discipline on my side.
Hopefully (but unlikely), this time it will be different. I have rearranged my 'home office' a little as well. This was mostly to make things a little easier for me. While I like my office at home, I find that there are just too many distractions available. The fact that I am rather lazy is probably not helping. I have started going to the 'office'. Sharing an office with another company that we are affiliated with. This is rather nice, except that at the new office, there is also a distraction.
While one distraction might seem like an improvement over multiple distractions, the single distraction at the new office happens to sit in the office next to mine and there is a clear window between us. I get to look at her regularly. Each time I do, I forget what I was doing as my common sense decides to take a vacation.
Still not sure what I am going to do...
